Case Studies
options available in the form of cost savings.
Cork County Council Since 1999 PrintPost have been contracted by Cork County Council (Southern Division) to print, envelope and despatch Refuse and Water Charge Demands and Reminders. These notices are produced at regular intervals during the year and may also contain various other documents within the envelope such as collectors opening hours schedule, waiver forms and a direct debit form. Cork County Council were interested in discovering what options were available in the form of cost savings. One option was to print forms duplex i.e. both sides of the page. This would reduce the volume of paper required. Also, as laser printing of this nature can only print in black and white, PrintPost suggested that if pre-printed stationary was required then a common pre-print could be used with only the Cork County Council logo pre-printed. The variable date would then be printed with the “Soft Form” at the laser print stage.
“Soft Forms” are standard elements of any document that was
historically
pre-printed and can now be printed at the same time as the variable
data e,g.
address and phone number details, the title of the form, the document
structure, tables for information etc . This facility means that if a
phone
number or e-mail address changes the programme can be altered without
affecting
the base stock and allowed Cork County Council to use the one
stationary type
for Refuse and Water Charge demands alternating details were necessary.
